What should Romoland homeowners know about AC repair?
Romoland is about 9.5 miles west of central Hemet in a straight line, at about 1,553 feet (USGS elevation; distance from Census and OpenStreetMap coordinates). Romoland is a community west of Hemet along Highway 74, next to Menifee.
Census figures (ACS 2020-2024 5-year estimates) for Romoland: about 2,268 residents and 668 housing units, a median home build year of 1994, 80% of occupied homes owner-occupied, and a median resident age of 34.2. About 66% of occupied homes heat with utility gas and 11% with electricity.
Which AC problems matter most in Romoland?
- Summer heat: inland Riverside County summers are long and hot, and an AC failure during a heat wave can quickly make a home unsafe for older adults, infants, and people with medical conditions. See emergency AC repair.
- Outdoor units in dust and debris: wind, dust, and dry weeds can clog condenser coils. Keep a couple of feet clear around the outdoor unit. See AC not cooling.
How long does it take a contractor to reach Romoland?
Visit times depend on the contractor’s schedule and demand. During heat waves, every AC contractor in the region gets busy, so share whether anyone at home is at higher risk from heat. The 9.5-mile figure is a straight-line distance; the drive is longer.

When should you call an emergency AC pro in Romoland?
Call for urgent help, and call 911 first where noted, if any of these apply:
- Someone has signs of heat stroke: confusion, slurred speech, fainting, very high body temperature, or hot skin. Call 911 and start cooling them right away.
- The AC is out during a heat wave and someone at home is an older adult, an infant, pregnant, or has a medical condition that heat makes worse.
- The outdoor unit or air handler smells like burning, sparks, or keeps tripping the breaker. Turn the system off at the thermostat and breaker.
- Water is leaking from the air handler into ceilings, walls, or flooring.
- The AC runs but indoor temperatures keep climbing on a hot day.
- You smell gas near a gas furnace or package unit: leave and call 911 or SoCalGas from outside.
If someone shows signs of heat stroke, or you smell gas, call 911 first. Don't wait for a contractor.
